Hi friends,
When I was writing to you last week, I think I naively thought that by now Putin's invasion of Ukraine would have stopped...but here we are and it's only getting worse. It's giving me strong flashback feelings to the 80s, growing up with the feeling that USSR might send off their nuclear bombs at any moment (Denmark is pretty close to Russia!).
And I can't stop thinking about the people who have been made refugees because of the invasion. I feel helpless, still. What can I do? One thing I can do is make things, so I designed this pattern called Peace in Ukraine. If you buy it, every penny (apart from VAT, which is out of my control) will be donated to humanitarian organisations working in Ukraine/with the refugees. I will cover the shop/payment fees from the sales.
The pattern is ยฃ2.00 with the option to pay more. If you know someone who might like the pattern, please share the link with them. As I'm writing this, the pattern has raised ยฃ116 and I would love if we could get it to ยฃ200. Or more even! :-)
This week I was going to launch a new pattern called Women's Art Is Work, to coincide with International Women's Day. But I've not had the mind space to finish the stitching. I don't really want to 'sit' on it until next year, so I'm releasing it as a 'bare bones' pattern with the pattern itself and no finished stitched version. Through the month of March the pattern will be pay what you want and 50% of what I make from this pattern will also be donated to help in Ukraine.
I hope that peace will soon return to Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine.
x Carina
P.S. I donโt have a Things I Enjoyed This Week section this week, but I will recommend following @sarahs.insta.secrets on Instagram. I started following her for her Instagram hacks/info but she happens to be Ukrainian and she has been sharing a lot of links and info about helping in her stories. Worth checking out.
