Have you heard of the 100 Day Project? You pick something creative and you work on it every day for a hundred days. It can be something big or something small, it doesn’t really matter. I’ve done it a few times and really enjoyed it.
Last year I did a project where I did a drawing a day but I got bored with the project so I stopped after 60 days. Which is fine. It was my project and I’m the boss of quitting or keeping going! :-D
This year I am doing a stitch sampler. The sampler has 100 ‘slots’ but I haven’t made up my mind if I’m going to do 100 different stitches or some of them will be repeats. I’m thinking it might be useful to give myself about 20% where I do something I’m already familiar with, and can do quickly, on days when life gets hectic.
When I was making my template, I thought maybe others would like to join in as well. Maybe to do the 100 day challenge or maybe just to work on slowly. Although, if you are able to, I can recommend finishing it in as close to 100 days as possible. It really feels like an Achievement. 100 days of doing The Thing and in the end you have a project made up of 100 days of putting in the effort. It is a commitment of course, but I think we are worth it to make a commitment to creativity for 100 days (and beyond).
You can get the sampler template here. (£3 until February 28th)
The next round of 100 Day Project starts on February 13th, so you’ve just got time to get sorted if you want to do your own creative project. :-)
I’m really looking forward to this project. I do tend to use the same dozen or so stitches most of the time. It will be fun to maybe add some more stitches to my ‘regulars’.
Have you done the 100 Day Project in the past? Are you doing it this time?
I hope you have a lovely weekend, whether you’re plotting a 100 day project or not! :-)

Things I enjoyed this week
Reading: The Rival Queens* by Nancy Goldstone. About Catherine de’ Medici and her daughter Marguerite de Valois. Life was pretty intense in France in the 16th century!
Listening: Still The Volume of Things album by Bryde.
Eating: Not so much what I was eating, but on Tuesday I prepped food for dinner on Wednesday. Wednesday I was teaching in London and I knew I’d be tired when I got home and probably not feel like cooking. So thanks to Tuesday-Me I just had to re-heat the food and eat it, no cooking required! :-D
Following: @bingata_dyedye on Instagram
Watching: Part 1 of the Beatles Get Back documentary. There is a LOT of smoking! And a lot of fringed and fluffy jackets. :-D I don’t know what I was expecting of this documentary. It’s fascinating: One minute Paul McCartney is just sketching out some chords and then, seemingly, moments later he has the basis of one of their big hits! But it is also kinda boring? Just watching them sit around playing and stopping (and smoking) and playing and stopping etc. Have you watched it?
