Hey friend,
How are you? :-)
The other day I finished another page in my 100 day project and I am smitten. Slightly obsessed. Here, look:
So many beads and buttons and sequins. It was so fun to make. I want to make more. Put beads on everything! What you can’t tell from a picture is how heavy this is. All those glass beads etc, the weight adds up. My post about it on Instagram includes a little video where you can see how it glitters. :-)
(Join me in the 100 day slow stitchalong to get my 24 prompts, including tips for making something like this glittery, encrusted rainbow! :-)
I finally finished the daily steps quilt I was working on in 2020 (!).
I’m so happy that it’s finally finished. I love its scrappy randomness. :-)
There are more pictures and words about the quilt on my blog. And I put together a short video with clips of the quilt, just for fun. (Direct YouTube link.)
I am enjoying learning how to edit videos. It’s fun and frustrating in equal measure! But learning new stuff is good for the ol’ brain so it’s all good. And a useful skill to have I guess. :-)
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
x Carina
Something I Am Enjoying
I am very much enjoying not using Duolingo anymore.
I started using it just before the start of the first lockdown here in the UK. When I deleted it the other day I had a streak of 1138 days. That's 3 years and 43 days.
I deleted it and I don't miss it. You'd think you'd miss something that's been part of your life every day for over three years when it is no longer part of your life.
But I don't.
They changed the learning path/method of Duolingo last year and I did not like it. I tried to get used to it, but it just doesn't work for me. So the last three or four months I've been doing the bare minimum each day. I was so close to a three year streak so I kept going to reach that. And then I kept going so I could get to 1100 days. And then 1111 days.
But it was pointless. I wasn't learning anything. Some days when I really just wanted a quick lesson purely to keep the streak going, I'd do a Danish lesson. (In case you don’t know, I’m Danish, I do not need to learn Danish. 😂)
So I deleted Duolingo. Not so much because it was a huge waste of time. It was more the daily nagging at the back of my mind "I need to do Duolingo" for zero enjoyment or purpose.
Of course now I'm wondering what else I'm spending time on for no real purpose...
