Hello friends,
Sometimes I think I should think of a less…generic? greeting. I subscribe to an Italian newsletter and the author greets readers with ‘ciao pirata’, which means ‘hi pirate’. I don’t know why they use this greeting but it makes me smile every time I open their newsletters. :-)
Leave a comment or send me an email with greeting suggestions! :-)
Recently, I bought a cardigan. Plain, black cardigan, nothing fancy. Although, it does have pockets!! But it needed…something. So I am working on adding some embroidery on the back. Just a fun little flower inspired by Swedish påsöm embroidery. I might also add smaller decorations to the cuffs of the cardigan, I haven’t decided yet.
I thought you might like the flower too, so you can download the pattern here. It includes two sizes of the pattern and three other small motifs. :-)
The white stuff underneath the embroidery is Sulky Sticky Fabri-Solvy. It is an excellent product when it is awkward to draw a pattern on your fabric. Or if you can’t be bothered to trace a pattern onto fabric. :-) You can print the pattern on the product using an inkjet printer. Then peel the backing off and stick the Fabri-Solvy on your fabric. Once the embroidery is finished the Fabri-Solvy is removed by soaking in water.
Fabri-Solvy is brilliant for fabrics like this cardigan where tracing a pattern would have been almost impossible. But I rarely use it because I find that it makes the embroidery less even. Especially satin stitch looks a lot less neat when stitched on Fabri-Solvy. But on this cardigan it is ok if the embroidery is a little uneven. :-)
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
x Carina
