Hejsa!
The sun has been out this week! So nice to get a break from the rain. :-)
The warmer weather was the kick in the behind I needed to finally sort out a thing I have been procrastinating about for ages. Over a year in fact!
I bought this black dress last year (joined by the red one earlier this year), and I’ve wanted to alter the necklines. I’m short with a short neck and the neckline on both of these dresses just made it look like I had no neck at all. And because the necklines were too high, it felt like I was being choked every time I wore the dresses.
Yesterday “Fix dresses!” was top of my to-do list and it feels so good to finally have it done. I wore the red dress when I walked Blake in the afternoon and it just felt so much nicer. So much less constrictive.
It’s amazing what a big difference a couple of inches make!
Am I going to learn from this and tackle other projects that I have been procrastinating on? Yeah, probably not… :-D
I finished stitching the Lughnasadh motif in the Wheel of The Year stitchalong (join us here!) and it only took about a week! That is really great compared to the past two or three motifs where it felt like it took forever because I have to stitch slower/less than I would like to. Hopefully that means that my dodgy thumb is starting to feel better. :-)
Now it is time to start thinking about the next motif in the stitchalong because it is due right when I am on a wee holiday in Denmark, so I have to make sure it’s all ready beforehand!
But this afternoon I think I’ll go sit in the sun with some (other) stitching and maybe have a bit of ice cream. :-)
I hope you have a sunny weekend!

Some Things I Am Enjoying
Watching: David Harewood on Blackface. On BBC iPlayer. Very thought provoking. It has made me think about examples of blackface in Danish TV. I don’t think there was anything like the Black and White Minstrel Show on Danish TV and I don’t recall seeing anything like it. But a quick Google search did throw up some examples of blackface… :-/
Podcast: Spinning in the Roman World episode on The Ancients podcast.
Over on YouTube I shared a video about some of my favourite embroidery books:
