Hejsa!
Last Friday, Tony and I went into London. It is very rare that we do that, together anyway, because it requires getting someone to look after Blake. We had a nice day, despite the cold. The main reason for going is that a Danish shop, Søstrene Grene, has opened on Tottenham Court Road. Previously, the closest one was more than two hours away.
The first Søstrene Grene shop opened in my hometown, in 1973 or something like that, so I’ve always known it. Although, it has changed a lot in recent years. It used to be a shop full of quirky homewares and candles and scented soaps.
They still sell those things but they are less quirky and more Instagram friendly. Not that Instagram friendly can’t be quirky, but you know… So it was a nice feeling of home to visit the shop. I only bought one thing: a bag of salty liquorice. Danes gonna Danish! :-D
We also went to the Ole & Steen bakery/café and had some Danish cake. I had a festival bun and it was very nice. In Denmark, Ole & Steen is called Lagkagehuset (the layer cake house) and I guess they went with a different name over here because it’s easier to pronounce? Maybe? Anyway, we’re definitely going back! :-)
A bit of house keeping: you may have noticed an extra email from me on Tuesday? It is a new thing. I will be posting twice a week going forward. On Tuesdays and Fridays. Tuesday posts will mostly be behind a pay wall but Friday posts will stay exactly the way they have been. :-)
Tuesday posts will be similar to what I sometimes have posted about on Fridays, but in a longer form. Some of the Tuesday posts will be more personal. Some times there will be a free pattern on Tuesdays.
I look forward to sharing some more writing…there are always words and half finished sentences floating around in my head. :-)
If you want to join me on Tuesdays that would be lovely, but there is no obligation to do so. Thank you for reading my posts whether you read on Fridays or on Fridays and Tuesdays!
It’s day 13 in the 100 day project and I am really enjoying my project. I love that I have no idea what I’m going to make each day, except that it will probably be something floral. I love that I’m using up a bunch of scraps and I love the challenge of the limitation of only being allowed to use scraps (apart from the backgrounds.)
Every day, I sit down, tip out the scraps and then I pick something and then something else and some time later I have made something from those scraps. It is very satisfying. :-)
Have a lovely weekend!

Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: Gaelic - English Dictionary* - Geddes & Grosset. I like browsing a dictionary. Maybe I’m a bit of a nerd? Yesterday was my Duolingo anniversary; four years since I started using it. To learn Scottish Gaelic. I did it for quite a while, three year streak, baby! And then I just stopped because although I did learn something…it felt more like memorizing and not actually learning and understanding how the language works. I’ve had a children’s book in Gaelic for a couple of years but I only recently got round to buying a dictionary to help me with the reading of that book. Hopefully I’ll actualy be able to read it.
Music: Swedish pop! Again! :-)
Food: I had some leftover raw red pepper which I cut into strips and put them on a hot pan (without any oil) and stirred them occasionally until they started to get black marks all over. Sprinkled with a bit of sea salt and eaten with hummus. So simple, so good. :-)

I found it amusing that the Søstrene Grene shop is right next to a Flying Tiger of Copenhagen shop which is also a Danish shop (the name kinda gives it away!) Oh and on the other side of the street is another Ole & Steen bakery. Danish corner! :-D
