Hejsa!
I’m back from my visit to Denmark. I came home on Tuesday and I’ve spent the past couple of days doing as little as possible. My Denmark trip was lovely but it definitely wasn’t relaxing. My heart is full but my mind and body are exhausted. #IntrovertLife :-)
The ubiquitous photo of Nyhavn in Copenhagen. I think there is a law that you *must* take a picture here if you are visiting Cph… :-D
I did a very quick sketch of Nyhavn. Trying not to get too anxious about all the details. So many houses with so many windows. And all those boats with their boaty shapes and masts and what not. It’s quite complex. I think I managed to capture the essence. I certainly stood on this little bridge for long enough to probably get in the way of at least half a dozen selfies…
This is a relatively new view in Aarhus. The harbour area has been completely re-zoned. It used to be all, you know, harbour related activities but now it’s residential, cultural and office buildings.
It is sometimes strange visiting Aarhus. I lived near/in this city from the age of 4 to 29 and felt like I knew it like the back of my hand. Now, I am continually surprised by new buildings, new road layouts, whole new neighbourhoods. It is slightly discombobulating sometimes…
When I went to Denmark, it still felt very much like summer. I was still wearing my flipflops when walking Blake in the morning. But now there is a distinct change in the weather and the temperature.
Which I guess is fitting since tomorrow is the Autumn Equinox. And of course that means working on the next motif in the Wheel of The Year embroidery. This project just makes me *so* happy.

Right, I think I’ll go and relax some more, maybe with a bit of stitching in front of the telly…
I hope you have an excellent weekend!

P.S. Here’s a video tour of a recently finished sketchbook. :-)
I flew to Copenhagen and I was very excited, when we approached the landing, that I was able to look out and pick out lots of places in central Copenhagen. Many of them are in this photo if you know where to look! It occurred to me that maybe I was the only 40+ year old, on the plane, who was so excited to look out of the window and taking lots of pictures.
But why wouldn’t you be excited? We can go up in the air like the birds and see the world from a completely different perspective! That is exciting! A kind of magic! I love having a window seat so I can look out at take-off/landing.
There is the Pantheon in Rome! Or Kew Gardens! Or the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen! The Golden Gate Bridge! Or last year when we flew to Rome and I could look down on the Alps. There is no other way I’d be able to see the top of a mountain (range), I’m not likely to ever climb one! :-D
I don’t care if people think I’m weird, with my phone pressed against the window, snapping pictures. I don’t care if people think I must have never been in a plane before. I will care if I’m 50+ or 60+ or 70+ and I’m NOT excited about it. :-)
Lovely! Yes, you're not alone in photographing from the air, I do just the same! It's a bird's eye view and it totally thrills me too...x
Hope you enjoy your weekend too Carina. I loved looking at your sketchbook. :)
