Gelato Swirl
Back in April I mentioned that I was excited about making a Doodle Quilt a la the one Annabel Wrigley teaches in her Creativebug class. Well, I finally made it and it was a fun make!
I really enjoyed playing with the colours (on my tablet) and then picking out fabric that was as close to the colours as I could get. My favourite is the neon pink at the top. It just makes the whole thing zing! :-) I call the quilt Gelato Swirl.
The cool thing about this process is that there is no piecing, it’s all ironed on which makes it quicker to make than if you had to piece all those curves for sure!
I followed the method pretty much to the letter but one thing I wasn’t entirely sure about was the quilting. ‘Use the same colour as the background’. I thought it might stand out too much, but I actually really like the effect. And I do like the texture of narrow quilting like this. If only it didn’t take such a long time to do! :-)
I hope you have a good weekend. Maybe you’ll have time to make a small (or big!) creative project.
x Carina
P.S. The quilt is for sale. Email me if you are interested. It measures approximately 25”x26”. It doesn’t have a hanging sleeve or corners.
Things I Am Enjoying
Reading: The Sewing Machine* by Natalie Fergie. Actually, I’m listening to the audiobook which I can very much recommend. It is narrated (performed?) by people with Scottish accents and I love it.
Watching: Derry Girls.
Music: The In Ogni Senso album by Eros Ramazzotti. A blast from the past! :-)
