Hejsa!
Happy Beltane! It's curious how, a few years ago, I didn't know what Beltane was, nor the Wheel of The Year. But now it feels quite natural to divide the year into these eight slices, each with their own festival. I don't know why but it just makes complete sense to me.
It feels like I am constantly thinking about the Wheel project. What is in season, what will be in season at the next festival? It really makes me pay much more attention to nature. And I look forward to the next addition to my project.
I also dread it slightly. That may sound strange? For each pair of pages, I make lots of notes, sketches and thumbnails but I don't really have a clue how I'm going to put it together until I put scissors to fabric.
In the back of my mind thing “maybe I'll completely mess it up...” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe I should have a bit more faith in myself because so far I have been happy with the finished pages and I have enjoyed the process...
The Beltane pages aren’t completely finished yet, there is some hand stitching to do and I may add some more blossoms and leaves to the branch; I can ‘t quite decide if it looks a bit too bare in the current state.
“My” tree on Wednesday morning. A bit of mist still lingered after the thick fog we had in the early morning. Everything is so beautifully green at the moment. That perfect spring green. The hawthorn is almost ready to burst into blossom. My favourite… :-)
I hope you have a lovely weekend!

P.S. A few snippets from my birthday…
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants* Robin Wall Kimmerer. This is probably one of the most beautiful books I have ever come across. Every sentence is a poem and the book is a gift to the soul. Read it, that is all I can say. Or even better, listen to the audiobook read by Kimmerer herself. ❤
Book: You Are Your Best Friend by Anisa Makhoul. I asked for this book for my birthday because I love Anisa’s work and this book is full of her illustrations. The book is a lovely read but the illustrations are what drew me to it.😍
Watching: We watched Hot Fuzz on my birthday. In my humble opinion it is a modern masterpiece. It doesn’t miss a beat and there are all these little clues that go back and forth and it’s just brilliant. And funny. For the greater good. 😄
Music: Darling, It’ll Be Alright by Allman Brown.

Blake ‘helped’ me put together a quilt top the other day…
Ah Blake, being helpful as always! :)
