Hejsa!
It’s a dark and drizzly day here. I should probably light some candles to make things a bit more hyggeligt. I spent the morning making some chili, to use up some peppers, and that was a nice, comforting thing to have for lunch.
I also baked lussekatter, Swedish saffron buns. Although I’m not Swedish, I have made it my tradition to bake those. They are so tasty, and I love the beautiful yellow colour. Last year I actually shared a vegan recipe for the ones I make, if you want to try making lussekatter. :-)
There is a bit of good news regarding the new EU regulation that comes into effect today. Although it does also apply to digital products, like my patterns, it only applies to things that have been produced from today, December 13th, and going forward. So everything that was already in the shop is fine. So atleast there’s that. But I need to figure out what to do about the patterns I make in the future.
Hopefully small biz people will be kicking up enough of a fuss that there will be some kind of leeway for us… Fingers crossed.
This EU regulation is giving me flashbacks to ten years ago when another EU reg came sort of out of the blue. Atleast for micro businesses like mine. The whole VATMOSS thing. That was also something we found out about with very short time before it came into effect. I remember quite clearly being in Denmark at the start of December, 2014, and finding out about this. And then spending the rest of the month trying to figure out how to deal with it. I think I ended up closing my shop for a little while in early 2015, when it came into effect… So stressful. There’s always something…
For a while I have wanted to try making these folded fabric stars. I grew up making the paper version so I figured that the fabric version would be easy. How wrong I was. They are so awkward to make! I didn’t enjoy the process and I don’t like the look of the finished star. So I think this is a project that will go in the ‘not for me’ category.
Have you tried making these fabric stars? Did you find it as fiddly as I did? :-D
Have a lovely weekend!

Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: Walking Distance by Lizzy Stewart. This book was not at all what I thought it was going to be. But I liked it! I think I already mentioned another book by Lizzy Stewart: Alison*. That was also not what I expected but equally very good. If you enjoy graphic novel type books, I can recommend both of them.
Watching: Christmas movies! Tony and I have our own tradition of watching one or two Christmas movies every weekend in Advent. A recent addition to our roster of movies is The Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday Special which is very funny. It also has a very funny Christmas song.
Music: I Don't Know What Christmas Is (But Christmastime Is Here) by Old 97s from The Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday Special. Also, my Christmas playlist on Spotify.

Some Interesting Things on The Internet
One for the frequent London frequenter, or people who live there (or just have a nerdy interest* in these things): A list of TFL’s Out of Station Interchanges. This is when you change between lines that do not share a station but stations that are right next to each other, the journey is counted as a single journey even though you are changing stations and tapping in and out. For example, where we live is covered by the TFL system, so when I take the train to Fenchurch Street station in London and then walk to the nearby Tower Hill station to take the tube, that is counted as one journey. Nifty. Although, weirdly, in some cases you have less time to get from station A to B than from B to A.
Gemmeus. A jeweller who makes replica of historical jewellery going all the way back to Roman times. Very cool.
To question is to consider, not refute by Derek Sivers.
Rosa Harradine makes handmade brooms and brushes. They look gorgeous. I really want to get a small brush for brushing crumbs off the dining table.
I came across a shop, The Danes, that sells home decor, Danish stylez. There are lots of things there that I’d love to buy for Christmas decorating.
And speaking of Scandi things, the packing from this Swedish sweets company, Viking Factory, made me chuckle.
*Oh boy, I think I may be one of those nerdy people!
I've been getting flashbacks to the whole VAT MOSS/ VAT MESS thing too. It's scary how little consideration or support is given to businesses to help them through this transition
