Hejsa,
I walked Blake yesterday morning, just before dawn. The darkness was mild and peaceful apart from the wind. I was watching the sky grow pale to the south, and listening to a robin, willing on the sun. When the quiet was shredded by a plane on the landing path to London City Airport. Modern life, eh?
Happy Winter Solstice. Happy Yule! Now we are working on the final motif in this year’s Wheel of The Year pattern. It feels like it was just yesterday that I started stitching the Imbolc motif… I have stitched a bit more of this motif than in the photo, it is almost done. I can’t wait to see it completed. If it is something that suits your personality, I can recommend having a project like the Wheel, that you are working on, slowly, over the course of the year. It is a nice way to mark the seasons (or whatever is guiding your project.)
You can still get the 2023 Wheel motifs/pattern here if you want to stitch it next year. :-)
Here is the start of the Tatreez pattern I mentioned the other week. To my surprise, I am actually enjoying the cross stitching… This stitchery is only a warm up exercise because it turned out that I didn’t have a piece of cross stitch fabric that will fit the whole pattern. I’ll order that in the new year and get started properly. I also need to decide on which colours to use. I’m not sure I want to use the colours in the pattern. I might pick some of my favourite colours…
The little cross stitch, top left, is a brooch I made, using a traditional Tatreez motif, the Bethlehem star. It was quite different for me to use black but I wanted to use the colours of the Palestinian flag and of course black is one them. I like the result. :-)
I hope you have a nice Christmas, if you are celebrating. Glædelig jul!
Have a lovely weekend!
x Carina
