Ahoy-hoy friends!
I hope 2023 has been kind to you so far. It’s weird that it’s only the 13th, it feels like more time has passed since New Year… Maybe it’s because I’ve been busy working on stuff and one of those stuffs I’m going to share with you today.
To be honest, I am a little nervous about it. Maybe no one will be interested!
So. You may have heard about Patreon and similar sites, where artists and writers and all sorts of people share exclusive content with a paying membership. I have made something similar to that.
I have so many ideas for patterns but not enough time to stitch them all and turn them into actual patterns. Drawing them on the computer, ready to be stitched, that takes much less time than actually stitching them.
So I have created the Pattern Lab, a place where I will share a new ready-to-be-stitched embroidery motif with the members every week. I am so excited about having this place to share these ideas!
My plan is that some of those ideas will become fully fledged patterns with a stitched sample and stitch & colour suggestions. The patterns that come out of Lab motifs will also be shared with members at no extra cost. (I am actually already stitching one of those motifs to make a pattern, yay!)
The Lab membership is £4.00 per month or £40.00 for a year. And then there is the Stitching Patron, a one-time payment of £125.00. The Stitching Patron level will get some extra stuff not included with the regular membership. :-)
Special offer, save on your membership until February 28th:
Monthly membership: save 10% for your first three months with the code: MONTH10.
Yearly membership: save 10% for your first year the with the code: YEAR10.
There is no reduction on the Stitching Patron membership but I will send a signed copy of one of my books (your choice) to the first five people who joins as a Stitching Patron.
Join the Pattern Lab here. I can’t wait to share all my ideas with you! ♥
And with that I will go and work on some embroidery and very definitely not be checking my notifications every five minutes to see if anyone has joined the Lab. :-D
Have a lovely weekend!
x Carina
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Watching: A Private Affair (Un asunto privado). “A daring upper-class girl with a detective's soul, sets off to catch the serial killer that has been terrorizing her town with her faithful butler Hector's help.” We watched the first episode last night and I really like it. It is funny, Jean Reno as the butler Hector is brilliant, and there is some excellent crochet/knitwear in the production. It has actually made me want to make a nice big flower-y crochet wrap! :-)
Podcast: the Gone Medieval podcast is an excellent listen if you are interested in Medieval history. The episodes I have listened to so far have been mainly about Europe but I think they also look at the Medieval age from other times/places.
Music: Golden Hour album by Kacey Musgraves. She reminds me a bit of Taylor Swift.
Magazine: Issue 55 of Uppercase Magazine. It is a beautiful and inspiring magazine in general but this issue is really extra lovely. I treated myself to this issue last month and I am slowly, slowly enjoying my way through it.
For some reason (it may have been user-error, but I guess we will never know…) last week’s message was never sent, so I thought I’d just share some of it here:
Last year I did a daily embroidery project where I tracked the daily high and low temperatures, using the Rhodes stitch. I enjoyed that project very much. It was manageable and it has turned out really pretty.
Since I enjoyed it so much, and because I would like to see how 2022 compares to other years, I have decided to do the same project for this year. And not only that, since I already have a spreadsheet with the data from 2021, I am going to stitch that in Rhodes stitch.
And since there is no reason to half-ass a crazy project, I am going to also do the project in 2024 and 2025 to give me a visual record of temperatures over the course of five years. It will be interesting to see how temperatures will change in the next few years…
(Of course, if you want to make your own temperature project, or other long term project, maybe check out my ebook about that sort of thing! Temperature Quilts, Embroideries And Other Slow Craft Projects.)
Congratulations on launching Patreon! That's wonderful! I will be sure to check it out-it's such a great platform to support the creators you love-I'm a big fan! Wishing you all the success!
