Hey!
How are you? I am slowly melting. It’s been quite warm here in England for the past week. Maybe not as hot as what other places experience but it is quite humid here and sometimes going outside it feels like the heat is just sticking to you. Not a fan of that!
I am Danish after all, hot climates are not my natural habitat. :-D
But the long light evenings are wonderful. The way the belt of Venus creeps across the sky (in the morning too) and the shadows lengthen on the field behind our house.
About 500 metres from our house is a small wood with so-called deneholes where bats live. If I look out of the windows in the spare bedroom at dusk there are bats flitting about above our garden. Magical. :-)
I have been busy with my mini quilts. It is really fun. Every single one is a surprise.
This is the quilt I made on Wednesday. Despite the fact that it is mostly yellow I really like it. (Admittedly, the strip of pink is doing a lot of heavy lifting!) I love this type of improv quilting. There is a lot of problem solving in improv quilting and my brain likes that very much. :-)
If you want to see the quilts I have made 1st-14th June, they are on my blog.
This mini quilt challenge is interesting. I am partly doing it to have something to do while I am still limiting the amount of hand embroidery I am doing. Because I can’t just sit with my hands in my lap!
One thing that the quilts are helping me do is to actually use some of my stash. I think I have fallen into the trap of ‘saving’ fabrics for a ‘special’ project. But sitting in the cabinet is not a special project. But being part of a creative challenge that is pretty special, I think! Something that all fabric hoards stashes should aspire to ! :-D
So the project is unintentionally teaching me to let go. To use the precious, pretty fabrics. Don’t keep them for a ‘special’ project. Make every project special…
So now I’ll get in my tiny studio that badly needs a tidy and a run around with the vacuum cleaner but I’m going to ignore that and pull out some precious fabrics and see what I can make. :-)
Have a lovely weekend!
x Carina
