Hello!
Yesterday was day 100 in the 100 Day Project! And now I am going to confess to my dirty little secret: I actually finished the stitching of the 24 pages on May 8th! Almost a month ahead of time. :-D
Just before I started the project, I decided, on a whim, to offer my 24 prompts to anyone else who might want them. So I would stitch a tiny bit ahead on each prompt to be able to share my starting point for each one. Which makes sense, right?
But of course then I couldn’t help myself and finish the pages, sometimes working on more than one at a time. No wonder I’ve had embroidery related strain on my thumb. Madness! But also fun. I’ve loved every second of my project. I hope you have too if you have done the prompts. The prompts are still available here, including a long video tutorial for how to put them together in a textile book.
Speaking of textile book, without further ado, here is my finished project:
I love it so much. It’s just full of things I love to make. Some things were kind of new to me, some are old favourites. Working on the project has given me ideas for new projects I want to make. :-)
But those new ideas will have to wait because I have finally started working on a project I have had on my to-do list for almost a year. Do you remember the alphabet stitch sampler I made last year? (Although…maybe I didn’t actually share the finished sampler?)
Ever since then it has been my intention to do a class based on that sampler but this, that and the other kept getting in the way. But now I am doing it! I recorded some videos on Wednesday, hopefully I’ll do some more today and then soon I can actually turn this idea into reality.
The plan is for the class to go live at the start of July and hopefully I’ll have stuff together so I can open for signups next week. That’s the plan! We’ll go through 31 different stitches in the alphabet sampler and I’ll share lots of my tips and tricks.
I’m so excited, I’ve been thinking about this for almost a year! :-)
I hope you have a sunny weekend!
x Carina
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: Rewild Your Garden: Create a Haven for Birds, Bees and Butterflies* by Frances Tophill. I am looking at inspiration for our garden. We finally have the basic structures in order so I am making plans to carry out in the autumn. My main goals for the garden is that it will be pleasant for insects and birds and pleasant for me (i.e. needing as little maintenance as possible!)
Watching: I came across a YouTube channel called The Last Homely House. And I’ve been watching a bunch of the videos. It’s a lady in the north of England sharing videos about the quilts and other things she is making. It is so relaxing to watch. And inspiring me to get quilting! I’ve been thinking it might be fun to do videos in a similar vein, but obviously not the same. I just don’t know if anyone would want to watch it. I also really (really) don’t fancy being on camera. Not sure how to get around that particular hurdle… Would you be interested in watching vlogs (I can’t stand that word) from me? What would you like to see? :-)
