Hi friend,
Have you heard of NaNoWriMo? National Novel Writing Month where the goal is for people to spend the month of November writing the first draft of a novel (50,000 words). In the past I have briefly considered doing this but I am not that kind of writer and I don’t have any ideas for novels!
But the past few years I have used NaNoWriMo as a personal prompt to write a blog post every day in November. It has worked pretty well! Even if I don’t manage a blog post every single day, it is on my mind so I am looking for things to blog about. Which means I try to make/do more things that are blog worthy. Sometimes the blog posts are short and sweet, more like an Instagram post. Although sometimes I intend on just writing a short post and then it turns out I have more to say about it than I thought. Funny that. :-)
Of course, a lot of my blog posts were quite short in the days before Instagram. And typing that I’m realising that blog posts don’t have to be super long or include 15 photos. It’s nice to share things, that’s the main reason I have a blog. To share things I make or notice or whatever. I don’t have a blog as a business, so there are no ads (but you can support the blog on Ko-fi if you feel like it.), it is so I can share and maybe even inspire others like I have been inspired by so many blogs in the past.
I like the mostly-daily blog post structure of November. I’m not sure I could keep it up every day 365, but I always enjoy the challenge in November. I can’t remember if I have mentioned on the blog that I do the daily thing. I may not have, in case I couldn’t ‘complete’ the challenge. Which is silly, I guess? It’s just an arbitrary idea and no one is going to tell me off if I miss a day or a week! :-D
If you subscribe to my blog, maybe you have noticed that there are more posts this month? Well, now you know why! :-)
I hope you have a nice weekend!

Some Things I Enjoyed This Week
Last week I mentioned that I had just started reading the book The Fair Botanists* by Sara Sheridan and I can confirm that I am still enjoying it!
Teaching beginner embroidery at The Village Haberdashery in West Hampstead. It is so much fun, one of my favourite things! :-)
I watched the When Mary Met Hillary Clinton episode of Inside Culture with Mary Beard and it was lovely. I don’t know how well these two ladies know each other but it seemed like they really got on and had a good laugh. :-)
