Hejsa!
This week has been hot! Although the thermometer ‘only’ said 27°C on Tuesday it felt quite a lot warmer because of the high humidity. And Wednesday was even worse, 32°C with even higher humidity. I spent most of Wednesday in the coolest room in the house, sitting in front of a fan. (No, we don’t have air-conditioning, it is very rare for homes in the UK to have that.)
Born and raised in Denmark, I am not cut out for those kinds of temperatures. Although I suppose I better get used to it (global warming etc). Funnily, my sister lives in California, and she lived in Hawai’i for a while, and she loves the heat. Madness!
Anyway. I finished the Be Kind pattern! I’m really happy with it. Firstly because it’s actually finished. That’s a big plus! But I also really like the colours. And lettering is always fun.
And I just realised that I didn’t actually take a picture of it without a bit of thread obscuring the rude word…well, you can imagine it. ;-)
It makes me think of that time a few years ago when someone got Very Upset with me for sharing a pattern that said ‘everything feels a bit shit’ and she said that embroidery was “too sweet a craft to be defiled” like that. But we were right smack in the middle of a pandemic and everything really did feel a bit shit… (Here’s a blog post I wrote to address that comment if you want to read it.)
And I just got completely side-tracked there… :-D
The Be Kind Or F*** Off pattern is available now! And you can get it with 10% off with this code: BEKIND10. The code is valid until 11:59 pm (BST) on September 13th. Use this converter to see what time that is in your time zone.
By the way, if you like your embroidery patterns with less swear words, the pattern also includes a version with ‘or get lost’ in stead.
I made another textile book! And I made a video about it because that is how I roll now! :-)
I actually recorded the video a few weeks ago when we very much did not have temperatures in the high 20s. Which is why I am wearing a cardigan in the video. :-)
You can watch the video here on YouTube. I am really happy with this book. It was a lot of work to get a bunch of odd sized flower stitcheries to go together but it was so worth the effort. I want to make more!
Have a lovely weekend!
x Carina
P.S. You won’t hear from me next week because I’ll be in Denmark (yay!) and I’m going to give myself proper time off and not schedule an email. :-) If you want to see snippets from my trip, I’ll be posting stuff in my Instagram stories.
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: I haven’t done any reading, stop bugging me! *sob* :-D
Watching: Series 3 of Only Murders in The Building. I’m enjoying it but I’m not sure it’s as good as the first two series…
Music: In a tv ad they were playing a Belinda Carlisle song and that sent me off on a music nostalgia trip to the late 1980s and I’ve been listening to her Heaven on Earth album… Not sure it’s as great as I thought it was back then, but a fun listen anyway. :-)
I took at look at your Flowers Slow Stitching Textile Book on youtube and it's beautiful Carina.
