Hey friends,
Thank you to those who got in touch sympathising with our wall woes (I think I replied to everyone?) The wall is done, we’re just waiting for the new garden gate to be installed and then we won’t have to see those builders again! They most certainly ripped us off. And that is…kinda embarrassing..? Live and learn I guess. :-)
I have a new pattern in the shop. It’s sort of a Valentine’s pattern but it also works for other times of the year. It’s the hearts that make it Valentines-y, I guess. :-)
The With Love mandala pattern is available in my shop. 40% of each sales will be donated to the Mermaids charity. There is also an option to pay extra for the pattern and 100% of any extra payment will also be donated to Mermaids. It is a charity that helps gender-diverse children and young people.
Love is love and everyone should have the right to be who they are, to be loved for who they are and love the people they love. Whether you fit into stereotypical boxes or not should not be a prerequisite for love…
With Love is a pattern inspired by a pattern I made a few years ago: Spring Heart. I really like making those buttonhole hearts. :-)
I used the colours of the Progress Pride flag for the pattern. I like how it turned out but I must admit that it was a bit of a challenge. Purple isn’t one of my go-to colours and I pretty much only use black and brown when I do realistic embroidery like something from nature. So it took a bit of time to find the right configuration of colours but I think it turned out nice in the end. It feels very “me” and I like how there is sort of a progression from light, pastel colours in the middle to the darker colours at the edge. And those pops of yellow are just fun! :-)
Speaking of yellow and fun! I have been stitching away at this mixed media thing and I can’t wait to use for its intended project. It’s going to be fun to see it come together. I love this kind of slow stitching project. There was literally no plan, except that I knew I wanted pink lettering on some kind of yellow fabric and I definitely achieved that. And then it was just a matter of adding various bits until it felt done. Although, these things are never ‘done’, you can always keep adding stuff… But I have decided that it is done now. ;-)
Have a lovely weekend!

Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: The Story of Art without Men* by Katy Hessel. This is an excellent book and I can highly recommend it if you are interested in art/art history. I studied art history 20+ years ago and I really wish that books like this had been around then.
Watching: Fight the Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World. A documentary series from the BBC.
Music: the Down to Earth album by Monie Love. She appeared in the BBC documentary and it reminded me of how much I loved that album. I find it kinda funny that I, as a teenager in a tiny town in Denmark, was really into hip hop…
