Hey friends,
In 2020 I had a year long project where every day I stitched something in a circle. Some of these stitcheries where just random things and others were in small series.
One of those series was 16 embroideries on pink fabrics. I can’t remember what the theme was, maybe vaguely a flower theme. There are several flower-ish stitcheries in the series! It’s not obvious that all of the stitcheries were worked in a circle but they were. Maybe I should have added a border around each one…
Anyway, the embroideries have been in a drawer since then because I didn’t know what to do with them, but now I have turned them into a wee textile book.
I hope this embedded video works, otherwise, click over to YouTube to watch it.
Having that daily project really helped in that strange year. When everything else felt uncertain, scary even, that project was something to focus on. A…sanctuary if you will.
Last week it was three years since the U.K. went into the first lockdown… it kinda feels like a very long time ago and at the same time, like it was just yesterday. I dunno. It was a strange time…
Are you doing the 100 day project? Mine is coming along nicely (if I do say so myself.) I am enjoying it very much. Mostly trying things I am already familiar with but don’t often take the time to do. Like this map embroidery:
That was so much fun! It is a small part of Aarhus, my hometown in Denmark, so I’ll have a wee part of that place in the finished textile book. :-)
More pictures of finished pages here on my blog.
Have a lovely weekend!

Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: Listen to the Land Speak: A Journey into the wisdom of what lies beneath us* by Manchán Magan. Ok, to be honest, I only think that I will enjoy this book. I have only read a couple of pages but it certainly sounds like something I’ll enjoy. Maybe you will to? From the book description: “Our ancestors developed a uniquely nature-focused society, centred on esteemed poets, seers, monks, healers and wise women who were deeply connected to the land. They used this connection to the cycles of the natural world – from which we are increasingly dissociated – as an animating force in their lives.”
Watching: We watched Hot Fuzz the other day and it is still as funny as the first time. Maybe even funnier because we know the lines… “For the greater good.” :-D
Music: Lots of R.E.M. My all time favourite. ♥
