Hello friends,
How is it November already? I think I feel kinda scattered because we’ve been on two trips in the last couple of months and my normal routine has been up-ended. But now things are back to normal.
I even found the embroidery scissors I have been looking for the past couple of weeks. How do no less than three pairs of scissors go missing in the same room at the same time? Well, I found them and now I can get back to some stitching. :-)
What I have been stitching is this Scandi Christmas mandala pattern. I am really enjoying stitching it. There is a nice rhythm to it which I really enjoy. And yes, Christmas. It will be here before we know it!
I haven’t completely finished stitching the pattern yet. The rest of the pattern is ready, but I need the finished embroidery so I can take a picture for the pattern cover and my shop etc.
Buuut, I thought maybe some of you would be interested in the pattern and not really care so much about my finished stitchery. So, I’m pre-launching the pattern for you. :-)
Buy Scandi Christmas Mandala pattern here. The pattern is 20% off until I launch it properly next week. No code necessary. The pattern includes a different non-mandala pattern, so really it’s a two-for one pattern. :-)
The mandala pattern is actually based on an old Christmas motif collection with 26 Christmas motifs. I have revamped the collection so it includes one size of the mandala pattern as well, so if you want a bunch of Christmas motifs plus the mandala design, buy the Scandi Christmas Motif Collection. The collection is also reduced and again, no code is necessary. :-)
I hope you like the colours in the Scandi Mandala (but obviously feel free to use your favourite colours!) I really wasn’t sure which colours to pick. In the end I went for mainly red, pink and green. But light greens, so it doesn’t feel too old fashioned. To me atleast. :-)
Right, I should get back to my stitching! :-)
Have a lovely weekend.
x Carina

Embroidery Inspiration
The new Art on The Underground Tube map by Do Ho Suh. I’m tempted to go into London just so I can pick up one of the pocket maps. :-D
Have you heard about the Stitch Bank by the Royal School of Needlework? It is a fabulous stitch resource. There are almost 300 stitch guides so far.
Not embroidery, but cool nonetheless: a knitted sweater inspired by the science of asteroid impacts. :-)
A very cool way to mend a hole in a knitted sweater.
This awe-inspiring embroidery of a Chinese bronze.
Things I Am Enjoying
Reading: Beautiful Botanical Embroidery* by Alice Makabe. One of my favourite embroidery books. The version I have is in Japanese but the pictures speak for themselves, no translation needed. I love Japanese embroidery books. They are just so beautiful.
Music: I Don't Know What I'm Doing album by Nerina Pallot. (Amazon Music link.)
Instagram: @natsue_m More beautiful Japanese embroidery.
