Hi friends!
Happy new year! 2022 is a week old. I hope it has been good so far? I mean, considering there is still a pandemic raging and it feels like the world is going to hell in a hand basket. Or maybe that’s just me? ;-D
I have started a bunch of new stitchy projects. I’m in one of those crazy periods where I have So Many Ideas. We’ll see how many of them actually come to anything.
And I finished the 2021 temperature embroidery. Ask me how happy I was to do that last spiderweb rose?! After 365 I’m kinda sick of them! :-D
Yesterday I rinsed the embroidery thinking this weekend I’d turn it into a finished thing to hang on the wall. But that’s not going to happen sadly. At least not yet, because look:
The red thread (DMC 321) on the letter E has bled into the fabric! I have a lot of emotions about this and they can pretty much be summed up in one word: f*****************ck!
I’ve got various advice on how to, maybe, hopefully, get rid of it. Or at least make it less obvious. This is the first time that I have ever experienced colour bleed with DMC threads. In 16 years since I started doing embroidery. I guess that’s pretty good?
At least the letter E is the only place this particular colour was used in the embroidery. Last year we never had the temperature that the colour was assigned to.
So the full ‘reveal’ of the temperature embroidery will have to wait a little while. Please keep you fingers crossed that I can get rid of the colour bleed.
Anyway.
The four patterns from the November mandala stitchalong are now available in my Payhip shop: Paisley Stars - Snow Stars - Colour Burst - Roses and Stars. And the set of four together. And, just for you, there is 20% off everything in the Mandalas collection in my Payhip shop until Monday, January 10th, using the code MANDALAS20.
I hope you have a good weekend!
x Carina
P.S. I find it very pleasing that 2022 written with Roman numerals is MMXXII. Yeah, I guess I’m a bit of a nerd. :-)
Some Things I Enjoyed This Week
Listening to the audio book version of Amy Poehler’s Yes Please*. It is funny (as you’d expect) and surprising and with some life advice sprinkled on top. In the audio book version there are also guest appearances from other people which I’ve not come across in other audio books.
Yesterday I started listening to the audio book version of Mary Beard’s 12 Caesars*. It sounds promising. If you’re into books about/related to ancient Rome.
My album of the month for January is Achtung Baby by U2. I just realised that it came out 31 years ago and now I feel old. :-D

That bleed must be infuriating after all your daily dedication...hope you find a solution. I'm enjoying the way the year looks in roman numerals too! Small pleasures, eh! :)
