Hejsa!
A couple of weeks ago, Blake had an operation in his right eye. Did I mention that already? Unfortunately, it wasn’t successful and on Wednesday he had another operation, poor thing. They kept him overnight and the past 24 hours have been all about looking after him.
Blake hates taking tablets at the best of times and at the moment he has to have extra tablets plus calpol for pain management. And eye drops. So many eye drops. At the moment he is having 8-10 eye drops per day and he does not like it one bit.
I slept in the living room with him last night so it would be easier if he needed to go in the garden in the night. It wasn’t a good night’s sleep. He is probably still feeling a bit sore and the whole experience has been very stressful for him. So there was quite a bit of whimpering in the night.
I’m pretty tired as you can probably imagine. :-)
I think I’ll keep it short and sweet, so here is a project I shared over on YouTube, a doodle quilt. I don’t know what else to call it.. :-)
And below there is an eclectic bunch of links and stuff I am enjoying. I’m glad I prepared those earlier in the week!
I hope you have a lovely weekend and please keep your fingers and paws crossed that Blake’s eye will heal properly so he can get out of the cone!
x Carina
P.S. This is not something I would usually do, but if you have been looking at the patterns in my shop recently, right now any sales would be very welcome indeed. And promptly go into a £3,500 vet bill sized hole. 🥰
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: The Full Moon Coffee Shop* by Mai Mochizuki. This book is not what I thought it was going to be. I am both enjoying it and finding it a bit…worthy? Maybe that is not the right word. Obvious, perhaps. It gives the same vibes as some of the books by Matt Haig. I dunno. Have you read it?
Watching: Music by John Williams (on Disney+). Very good documentary/portrait of Williams. His career has spanned decades and multiple disciplines. A modern day genius for sure. What’s your favourite JW soundtrack?
Music: The November playlist (on Spotify).

Some Interesting Things on The Internet
Recycle Your Electricals. A bit boring, but might be useful for fellow UK residents…
The Colour of Time by Robert Macfarlane.
Sandi Toksvig doing a talk/Q&A at Cambridge Union on YouTube. I used to get annoyed when people call her the most famous Danish person because I don’t think many people in Denmark know who she is. And that made me annoyed when she was on tv. Buuut, now that I have watched a few interviews with her, I am firmly in the Sandi- fan camp. She’s pretty incredible. But she’s still not the most famous Dane, except in the UK. 😉
Remember That DNA You Gave 23andMe? Article from The Atlantic. This is why I have never been even remotely tempted to do a DNA test. Who owns the data that is the result of those tests? It’s probably not the person having the test done… 😬
Life in The UK Test. Lately I have been seriously considering becoming a UK citizen. To do that, I have to take the Life in The UK test plus a language test. I’m curious how well Brits would do taking the Life test?! Let me know in the comments how well you do! 😁
You can now download over 33,000 sound effects from the BBC archive. I don’t know if that’s useful to you but I thought it was interesting.
So, I got 4 wrong (83.3%) and I’m a US citizen living in the Mid-Atlantic. A couple were difficult and another couple I figured out by the process of elimination. I suspect I have just picked it up over the years. Plus, I’m a huge reader of historical fiction in various mass market genres such as romance and mystery that are set in various parts of the UK.
P.S. Wishing Blake a speedy recovery! And you a good night’s sleep!
Well I got 3 wrong in the British citizenship test and I’ve lived here all my life (that’s 87%). I wonder if that’s a pass? Some of them were really tough! My son is considering taking the Danish citizenship test. He’s married a Danish girl and they have a son. He says the test is really hard.
Hope Blake makes a full recovery x
