Hello friends,
Yesterday I spent the day in London. Wandering around the City and doing some sketching. It was a lovely day. Just what I needed: an artist date, to fill the creative well. Even if it’s not directly linked to my work. Seeing new things is always good. It gets you out a rut, makes you think differently.
I also went to The Art Pavilion in Mile End, to see the 10th anniversary exhibition by London Urban Sketchers. It was a lovely exhibition, in a lovely space. The Pavilion is right next to a pond, with ducks and swans. If my feet hadn’t already been tired from all the wandering earlier in the day, I would have wandered around in the park outside. Maybe I’ll come back some other time.
If you are interested in (urban) sketching and London, I can recommend going to see the exhibition. It is on until this Sunday (October 16th) and it is free.
In just under three weeks, it is Samhain, the eighth festival in the Wheel of The Year project. Although, since Samhain marks the new year, it is actually the first festival in the Wheel as it is celebrated. Above you can see what my Wheel looks like at the moment. I am absolutely itching to get stitching on the last motif. I can’t wait to see what it looks like all finished. :-)
I’m sure I have said it before, but I have absolutely loved working on this. Probably one of my favourite things I have ever made.
The last motif features some thistles and I have made a tutorial for how to stitch those. You can find the tassel stitch tutorial on my blog. And I also made a little pattern with thistles if you would like to practice the stitch. It is an addictive stitch. That’s why I made the thistle pattern: so I could stitch some more thistles! :-D Download the Thistle pattern here.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
