Hello friends!
The next festival in the Wheel of The Year is almost upon us. Lughnasadh, or Lammas, is on August 1st/2nd. A time to celebrate grain harvests in particular, nice excuse to bake or buy a nice loaf of bread. Don’t mind if I do. :-D
Here is the motif in the Wheel of The Year Stitchalong. I am really looking forward to stitching these flowers and berries. A celebration of the abundance of nature, both wild and cultivated. You are very welcome to join the stitchalong, check it out here. :-)
Did you notice the sunflower in the Lughnasadh motif? It is one of my favourite flowers. So bright and happy. And it reminds me of Tour de France (there are always days when they ride past giant sunflower fields), which of course was won by a Dane this year! :-)
Tomorrow, July 30th, is World Embroidery Day so I decided to take the sunflower and turn it into a happy little collection of motifs. You can download the Sunflower collection here. I hope you enjoy it. :-) Payment is optional but gratefully received. x
I’ll look forward to stitching some sunflowers tomorrow while watching the Tour de France Femme (finally the ladies have their own Tour!)
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
x Carina
Things I Am Enjoying
Reading: The Saint-Florentin Murders by Jean-François Parot.
Music: The In Ogni Senso album by Eros Ramazzotti. It sounds like summer! :-)
Eating: Koldskål. A Danish cold ‘soup’ made with buttermilk, and served with little vanilla biscuits, which we eat in the summer time. The name literally means ‘cold bowl’. It’s not a soup at all, but I don’t know how else to describe it. I made it myself (vegan version) since it doesn’t exist here in the UK. Eating it is pure nostalgia, it tastes like endless, carefree summer days…
