Hey friends,
It’s February! The 18 weeks of January are finally over! :-)
Yesterday was Imbolc in the Wheel of The Year and I spent a tiny bit of time with the Imbolc embroidery. I had hoped to almost finish Imbolc this week but it has not been not been a week for stitching. Or anything else for that matter. Last week we had our fence replaced and the plan was to have the garden gate replaced as well. A fairly quick job we thought…
The gate has still not been replaced because it turns out that the garden wall (where the gate was attached) was on the verge of collapse. And then it turned out that the old wall was built directly on dirt, with no footing/foundation. Which added more work onto the project. As well as a higher cost. And THEN obviously it turned out that the other half of the wall was in just as bad shape so that will need to be replaced too. Of course that didn’t have any footing either and because that part of the wall forms the back wall of our shed AND it is right next to our neighbours’ rickety wall, they have use a different (more expensive!) method of securing the new wall.
It is just so friggin’ stressful. The spiralling cost is bad enough in itself but the fact that the problems just keep accumulating. And because there are people in the garden Blake is on High Alert all the time and won’t settle down, so I’m spending most of my time trying to calm him down. Since the old was knocked down, the garden is now open at the back so every time Blake needs to go in the garden, one of us has to stop whatever we’re doing and take him out on a lead. That is a lot more time consuming than just opening the back door…
Ugh. I’m sure you can relate if you’ve ever had to have some work done on/in your home. I’m crossing my fingers that the walls will be done by the middle of next week so we can get back to normal…
Anyway. Here is how far I have got with my Imbolc embroidery. Atleast it is very enjoyable when I have been able to work on it.
I know a lot of people aren’t so keen on French knots but I really like them. This motif uses a lot of them, it’s good practice! :-) It is also good practice for stitching satin stitch circles. Another thing I really love stitching. Maybe you remember my 100 satin stitch dots project?

I’ll leave you with a link to this wee embroidery thread storage tip that I posted on my blog.
I hope you have a lovely weekend. :-)

A favour to ask
I was wondering if you would do me a favour? If you have bought and liked any of my patterns in the past, would you write a review of it? Nothing fancy or long. It helps a lot for customers to see what other people think of the patterns. Here is the link to the shop. Simply use the search function at the top to find what you have bought. Thank you very much. ♥
Join the Pattern Lab and get this week’s motif. Actually two motifs this week! And you can join the Lab with 10% off using this code: LABWALL10. (Valid until Feb 12th.)
That definitely sounds super stressful!
Last week I had workers in the house replacing my bedroom window. This thankfully only took a few hours, but poor Rosie was completely beside herself. I mean, I let these strangers into the house and then just sat there while went about destroying the place, right? She barked pretty much the whole time, even though I tried to calm her down, and ever since she's stayed glued to me most of the day while I'm working. Apparently she now thinks I have poor judgement and need supervision :D Today she finally wandered off and spent some time napping on the couch since I haven't let in anyone questionable for a while.
Sorry Carina, that sounds like no fun at all. Glad you have embroidery for solace. I hope the work on the wall doesn't take too long to complete.
