Hello friends,
We’re in the midst of a cold spell here in the UK. I’m cautiously optimistic that we will see a few flurries in the next week. Fingers crossed. I like snow. :-)
I have started stitching the third of our advent motifs. You can download it here. I love how this variegated thread (DMC 107) is making it look kinda Christmas-y.
Here are the three motifs so far (the third is the one on the right):
If you missed the previous motifs, download them here: Motif 1, Motif 2, Template.
When I was sketching some ideas for these motifs, I ended up with four pages of sketches. Some are boring but some are definitely pattern worthy. If only I had the time to stitch all of them. But I only have one pair of hands!
So I had an idea. To start a club of sorts. A pattern lab. Where I share the basic patterns (i.e. ones that I haven’t stitched) and also the patterns that do get stitched and become ‘proper’ patterns.
I haven’t quite worked it out yet, but I already have enough sketches and drawn motifs to share weekly for almost a year. Seems like a shame to just leave them sitting in my sketchbook and my computer… :-)
Here is my December stitch sampler as of yesterday. I am enjoying working on this very much. I really love the woven stitch in the centre. I think I could really get into weaving. But do I need another craft? More tools? Probably not. But maybe? I have looked at a table top heddle loom. I’m tempted… :-D
I hope you have a lovely weekend. x Carina
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: The Saint-Florentin Murders by J.F. Parot. I am enjoying this series about Nicholas Le Floch who is a police commissioner at the end of the reign of Louis XV, and later at the start of the reign of Louis XVI.
Music: Anaïs Mitchell (Deluxe) by Anaïs Mitchell.
More music: Expectations by Katie Pruitt.
Watching: The Julekalender. A Danish television advent calendar. It is very silly and Tony doesn’t understand it all. But it is fun and it’s our tradition. :-)
