Hejsa!
Last week was beautiful here. Sunny and quite warm for the season. I think we had 19°C on Sunday. But it’s a fool’s spring, it has turned cold again. There might even be snow by the end of the month. March really is a mad month! :-)
Right, it’s a quick one from me today because my parents are visiting and I really should spend time with them instead of tapping away on my keyboard!
Here is how my 100 Day Project is coming along. I am trying to use lots of different stitches in this but it is quite difficult since the letters are so small. I mean, look at that yellow T on the right hand side. There was absolutely no need to use Bayeux stitch on that, but I did it anyway! :-D
I’m hoping that eventually the colours will look a bit more mixed. I’m using the colours in a specific order and I am kinda regretting that a teensy bit. It looks like the pinks and purples are on one side and the yellows and oranges on the other, with the blues and greens in the middle. But it is what it is.
This project is very small, very focused. I thought I might find it restrictive but in a way I find that it’s the opposite. It is very liberating that I don’t have to show up to my project every day and wonder ‘what am I doing today?’ I know what I have to do, I know what colour I’m going to use. The only thing I have to decide is which stitch I want to use. If I am feeling adventurous, I’ll try something complicated. But if I’m feeling tired or in a hurry or whatever, I can just pick a stitch that I know will work for such a small ‘canvas’ as each of these letters are.
And every day I get to spend a little time with that quote* by Toni Morrison. It is a good quote to make you think about what it means to be an artist, but also what it means to be human. Especially when it feels like everything that is going is decidedly not in the interest of the well being of regular human beings. Or nature.
Anyway. I think that’s enough keyboard tapping from me! I’m off to spend the rest of day in London with my folks. :-)
Have a lovely weekend!

Some Interesting Things on The Internet
I have probably shared it before but the Stitch Bank from the Royal School of Needlework is an excellent resource for embroidery stitches.
YouTube: this coat with appliquéd skulls is pretty epic.
Also YouTube: "Why are our houses beige? The history of neutral homes" Is your home neutral coloured? We have one pink wall in our living room and I love it. And we’ve still to hang anything on the wall and I’m kinda glad we haven’t. I love that cheerful pop of pink. :-)
Fragment of Epic Medieval Bayeux Tapestry Rediscovered in Germany.
The eponymous album by Ben Tangle. It has a sort of Beatles vibe to it.
