Hello friends,
Last week I was hoping for snow and on Sunday evening we had quite a lot! For our part of the country, anyway. We woke up to 2-3 inches on the ground on Monday. And most of it is still there, making everything look winter pretty. :-)
On Sunday morning I had gone out in the freezing fog to take pictures of frost covered leaves and berries. It was a beautiful, quiet morning. Here are some of the pictures I took.
This is the last of our four advent flower motifs. I sadly haven’t had time to stitch the fourth one yet. Hopefully this weekend. :-) You can download the motif here. I hope you have enjoyed the motifs.
(If you missed any of the previous motifs: One, Two, Three and the template.)
The reason I haven’t had time to work on the advent embroidery is that I have finally got my act together and I’m writing an ebook I have been meaning to write for the past year: an ebook about making temperature quilts, embroideries and other long-term projects. I’m hoping I can have it ready before Christmas (before New Year, anyway) so people can use it as inspiration if they want to do a temperature quilt or embroidery or whatever in 2023. :-)
If you are interested in that kind of project and this sounds interesting you can pre-order the ebook here. As the ebook isn’t quite ready yet, I will email it to you once it is finished. The pre-order price is 33% off with no code necessary and that price is valid until the ebook is finished.
As a little bonus, pre-orders also get (instant) access to my template for the sampler I am working on this month. Which I am also falling a bit behind on stitching but c’est la vie. :-)
I am enjoying the sampler and it finally made me try a stitch I have been meaning to try for a while: Bayeux stitch. Have you tried it? It is the top left pentagon here. It works up really quickly, no wonder they used that for the Bayeux tapestry! I’m not 100% sure that I like the look of it, though. Maybe it will grow on me if I use it for other things…
Right, that ebook won’t write itself so I better get back to it! :-D
I hope you have an excellent weekend.
x Carina
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Book: A Year Unfolding: A Printmaker's View* by Angela Harding.
Music: Punisher album by Phoebe Bridgers
More music: I Don’t Know What Christmas Is (But Christmas Time Is Here) from the Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday Special show (which I also enjoyed).
Watching: Wednesday on Netflix. This could have gone terribly wrong but it is actually quite good. :-)
Film: Troll movie (Netflix). I did not expect to like this at all but I really enjoyed it. It’s funny and not really scary (I thought it was going to be). Imagine Godzilla but it’s set in Norway and Godzilla is a huge troll!
