Hello friends!
We are back from holiday and I am feeling much refreshed and relaxed. Some time off was just what I needed.
Of course, it didn’t hurt to be in one of my favourite cities: Rome. That place is just amazing. I fell head over heels in love with it when I visited it the first time almost 25 years ago. I’ve been back several times since and each time it finds new ways to cast me under its spell. It never gets boring that you can just casually take a bus past the Colosseum or stroll across Piazza della Rotonda. All the heart eyes!
Speaking of Piazza della Rotonda. While we gave up on getting inside the Pantheon (the line was too long!), we did enjoy some refreshments in a café next to it. A very relaxing way to spend an hour or so. :-)
There are a few more snapshots from our trip on my blog.
My parents came over to look after Blake while we were away. And they brought me a treasure:
These DMC thread drawers used to be in the knitting/haberdashery shop my paternal grandparents owned in the late ‘70s-early ‘80s. I have very distinct memories of visiting the shop and opening the drawers and seeing all the colourful threads.
For many years the drawers have lived in my dad’s workroom, holding all manner of electrical wire cutters and screws and bits and bobs and whatnots. But now they have come to live with me and I am so excited to have them here. A link to my late grandparents, and especially my grandmother who could master any craft she encountered.
Now I just need to find a spot for them in my wee studio, and probably make a mess in the process! :-)
I hope you have an excellent weekend. x Carina
Some Things I Am Enjoying
Reading: Femina* by Janina Ramirez. I listened to the audio book, read by Janina and it was delightful. The only bad thing I can say about it is that I wish it were longer. :-)
Music: The Order of Romance album by Jesca Hoop.
Watching: Ghosts is back on BBC for a 4th season! This is one of those series where the premise is really simple and it started a bit slow but then it is just amazing and becomes one of your favourites. :-)
Eating: Italian rosemary flavoured crisps. So delicious. I really like crisps with rosemary but sadly it’s not a common thing here in the UK. So I had to bring back a couple of bags from our trip. :-D

Glad you had a good holiday Carina, and I'm a little envious of the gift your parents brought. Enjoy arranging all your colourful threads.
