Hejsa!
I am very excited because yesterday I finished a pattern that I have been working on for what seems like ages. I still have trouble with my right thumb, so working on patterns takes for-like-ever.
Anyway, the pattern! Oh, I’m excited about it! Because look at all these happy colours!
The pattern is stitched using just eight variegated colours. I love the effect so much. I used to be a bit…underwhelmed by variegated colours but now I love them. So I wanted to make a pattern where I only used variegated.
I’m so delighted with the result. It did take me a while to decide the exact placement of the colours. Especially the smaller elements along the edges. I think the end result was worth a bit of unpicking at one point. :-)
You can buy the Rainbow Paisley Mandala pattern here.
By the way, the pattern is included (for free) in the Pattern Lab, so if you are subscribed to that, you should have received a notification that you can download it. (Join the Pattern Lab here if you would like to receive a weekly motif!)
I have sort of started a new project. Occasionally I make slow stitched flower fabric collage-y things. Which are really fun. But, since I still have to cut back on the amount of hand sewing I do, I have started making them with my sewing machine. And since apparently I need a Project, I may make a bunch of them and put them together in another textile book.
I kinda feel like sewing them on the machine is cheating but if I let go of that particular idea, and just see what I can do with the machine, maybe something fun is waiting just around the corner. Who knows!
Here’s a flower I finished the other day. I really like how it turned out. The zigzag stitching adds a fun texture to the edges.
The sun is shining and there isn’t a lot of wind so maybe this afternoon I’ll take my sewing machine outside and sew in the company of the bees and butterflies. :-)
I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Some Things I Am Enjoying
Watching: Murdoch Mysteries. A little while ago we started watching this series from the very beginning. There are many series so it will take us a while to get through them all! It’s not the first time we have decided to watch a whole series of something: Agatha Christie’s Poirot, Sherlock Holmes, Death in Paradise to name just a few… :-D
Music: Season Two album by Jaz Beeson.
Food: Homemade baguette. Is there anything better than freshly made bread? Of any kind? No, no there isn’t. :-D
Some Things That Caught my Fancy
This Acorn Soup Bowl in the Heather Purple colour. So pretty. We don’t need any more bowls but if we did…
A set of gorgeous linocut postcards by Sam Marshall.
Cosmo variegated thread collection. But I don’t need more threads…do I? :-D
